PMI Vanishing Formula Kit is a fast-dissipating fog formula kit for SmokeNINJA PRO users, designed for residue-free dry-ice-style effects on tabletop sets, miniatures, products, and portraits. The formula is designed to evaporate at room temperature and leave no lasting residue.

Unlike traditional fog liquids that leave sticky residue and buildup haze in the air, our advanced, fast-dry formula is engineered to evaporate faster on surfaces, leaving your set, products, and equipment clean.

Key Features:
No Lasting Residue
Using the “dry ice” mode, the fog formed on surfaces will begin to evaporate in 2 minutes, and the evaporation will be complete in approximately 45 minutes (at room temperature and normal ventilation). There will be no lasting residue on most common surfaces, including miniature figurines, paint coatings, and luxury products. 
PMI compiled an allowlist of surface materials that work well with the Vanishing formula.

Free from Photoelectric Sensors from 2.5m distance
With the Vanishing Formula, as long as the smoke output is 8 feet (2.5m) away from the photoelectric sensors, it will not trigger the sensors, as complete dissipation occurs within 8 feet.

What is the PMI Vanishing Formula Kit?

The standalone PMI Vanishing Formula Kit upgrades your SmokeNINJA PRO or PRO V2 with rich cinematic fog, residue-free results on compatible surfaces and no haze build-up under normal ventilation. It includes Vanishing Formula, a dedicated VF Chamber and an Amplifier Nozzle. A fog machine is not included in the standalone kit.

What effects can I create for products, miniatures and portraits?

Vanishing Formula gives small scenes a bigger atmosphere. Frame a hero product in fog, bring a miniature landscape to life, or add a dramatic plume to a portrait. Compatible shaping accessories let you create low-lying tabletop fog and miniature cloud trails without actual dry ice. For specialized tabletop and miniature effects, use the PMI Dryice Nozzles Kit, sold separately from the standalone Vanishing Formula Kit. Use the included Amplifier Nozzle with every Vanishing Formula setup.

Will Vanishing Formula leave residue on products or models?

Vanishing Formula is residue-free on compatible surfaces. Temporary moisture can settle during use, then evaporates without lasting deposits. Use airflow to dry the moisture without wiping or moving your subject. Keep your lighting, subject placement and composition intact between takes. In Dry Ice mode, surface evaporation begins in about 2 minutes and completes in approximately 45 minutes at room temperature with normal ventilation. Check PMI’s material compatibility guide for your surfaces and finishes. Test custom or unfamiliar finishes on a representative sample before shooting.

Can I shoot repeated indoor effects without haze build-up?

Yes. PMI Vanishing Formula allows you to create repeated indoor fog effects without any haze build-up under normal ventilation.

It dissipates rapidly upon mixing with the surrounding air, enabling you to consistently create localized atmosphere around your subject without a lingering layer of haze taking over the studio.

How long does Vanishing Formula fog stay visible?

In still air, Vanishing Formula fog stays visible for approximately 3–5 minutes after output stops. That gives you time to compose and capture the effect. It dissipates rapidly as it disperses and mixes with more surrounding air.

How is Vanishing Formula different from Cloud Formula?

Choose Vanishing Formula for fog around products, miniatures and portraits that clears rapidly as it disperses, with no haze build-up under normal ventilation. It is the formula for localized effects and repeated indoor shooting.

Choose Cloud Formula for atmosphere that hangs in the air, including sustained room-wide haze that reveals light beams.

How far should the fog outlet be from a smoke detector?

PMI specifies at least 2.5 m (about 8 ft) between the Vanishing Formula fog outlet and a photoelectric smoke detector. Detector types and room conditions vary, so confirm the venue’s requirements and arrange a venue-approved test before shooting.

Can I use a standard chamber or mix Vanishing Formula with other liquids?

No. Vanishing Formula requires its dedicated VF Chamber. Do not mix Vanishing Formula with Cloud Formula or any other liquid. To switch your compatible PRO machine to Cloud Formula, fit a separate chamber intended for Cloud Formula.

Why is the Amplifier Nozzle required for Vanishing Formula?

The Amplifier Nozzle controls output temperature to keep Vanishing Formula fog dense and rich. It comes with the standalone kit and must be used for every Vanishing Formula effect, including with compatible shaping accessories. Follow PMI’s setup instructions when combining attachments.

How should I store the VF Chamber between shoots?

Remove the VF Chamber from the machine and seal it inside its protective capsule whenever it is not in use. Vanishing Formula evaporates when exposed to air, so sealed storage preserves the liquid for your next shoot.
