Can I use PMI fog machines in my studio?
Short answer - If the location is OK with water-based fog machines, it is OK with PMI fog machines.
Long Answer - The ingredients for PMI cloud formula is Vegetable Glycerine and Propylene Glycol, the same ingredient as common water-based formula. The only different is, due to the advance in atomizing technology, we no longer require actual water content in our formula.Since the effective ingredient is identical to Water-Based Liquid, the haze will have the same properties as the haze generated by Water-Based Hazer. So, if the studio is OK with Water-Based Hazer, it should be OK with PMI Hazer.

Working in cold temperture
(Below 10 Degrees Celsius)
In extreme cold temperatures (Below 10 Degrees Celsius), you might trigger "TIME OUT" warning, because of the liquid being less "runny" in the cold. In this case, simply perform one of the Fixes below:
FIX 1: Run the machine in low power setting - SmokeGENIE:
1) Set machine to LV 1 Smoke, LV 5 Wind.
2) Run for 1 minute.
SmokeNINJA/SmokeNINJA PRO:
1) Switch to Steam Mode
2) press trigger button 3 times to let the machine output continously. The machine will output for 1min/3min and stop automatically.
FIX 2: Place the chamber in warm area (above 20 Celsius) for 5 minutes. Install back to machine.

Why do I keep seeing "TIME OUT" warning?
"TIME OUT" means the heating unit inside the chamber is under fuelled and may cause overheating if it continues to operate. This is part of our protection system to keep the machine safe and durable.
It could be caused by one of the following:
Please do not hesitate to contact us at CS@pmigear.com directly if you are unable to resolve your issue

Does the machine support continuous smoke output?
SmokeGENIE
SmokeGENIE is designed survive the intense production. All 5 power levels in standard mode can support continue output until the battery or chamber runs dry.
For LV 6-10 in "PRO MODE", they are designed for intense short burst. Here is the expected continous burst time for each power settings:
SmokeGENIE 10 minute burst test
SmokeNINJA & SmokeNINJA PRO:
SmokeNINJA can suport 1 minute of continuous spray at max power setting.
SmokeNINJA PRO with Gen 3 Clean Fog Techology, can support 3 minutes of continuous output at max power setting.

Why is the device spitting liquid?
This is caused by heating unit inside the chamber getting oversoaked with fog liquid. This does NOT damage the condition of the chamber, and here is how to fix it:

Is there a limit on Operation Angle?
Both SmokeGENIE & SmokeNINJA can support 360-degree operation, but due to the design, they will have a time limit when sprayed downward.

How to replace the chamber?
How to Refill?
To refill, simply lift up the silicone cap on top of the chamber and fill it with the liquid comes with the device.
Make sure to CLOSE the silicone cap tightly after refill.

When to replace the chamber?
There are 4 signs to look for that hints at a damaged chamber:
1. When the machine displays "TANK FAULTY" when chamber is installed.
2. When the Chamber starts to produce an unpleasant burning smell (Usually after ~100 hours of spray time.)
3. Machine keep prompting "TIME OUT" warning during normal operation.
4. When the smoke becomes very pale even in high smoke levels.
In these 4 cases, it is highly likely that the chamber is damaged, or has reached the end of its lifecycle. Please replace a new chamber.

How long can a chamber last?
Each Chamber is designed to support 100 Hours of smoke output.

Is the Cloud Formula a water-based or oil-based liquid?
Short answer - PMI fog machines use a water-based liquid without water content.
Long Answer – the effective ingredient in Oil-Based haze liquid is mineral oil, hence the name “Oil-Based”. It is known to produce a fine and long-lasting haze but at the same time might cause health issue when inhaled and leaves a fine residue on every inch of the room after the haze. Making it incompatible with expensive equipment.
For Water-Based Hazer, while the liquid is 7-80% water, the water is mainly serves as an expending agent and cooling agent, since steam will dissipate quickly, it doesn’t contribute much to the haze effect. In Water-Based Liquid, the effective ingredients are Vegetable Glycerine and Propylene Glycol. The haze generated with Vegetable Glycerine and Propylene Glycol do not last as long when compared to the haze generated with mineral oil, but at the same time, it does not leave residue on equipment surface.
PMI Fog machines use Vegetable Glycerine and Propylene Glycol our effective ingredients, same as Water-Based Hazer.
However, thanks to advancement in atomizing technology, we no longer require actual water content in our formula. This results in great reduction in liquid and power consumption. PMI hazers can generate the same amount of haze with 1/10 of liquid and power consumption.
Since the effective ingredient is identical to Water-Based Liquid, the haze will have the same properties as the haze generated by Water-Based Hazer. So, if the studio is OK with Water-Based Hazer, it should be OK with PMI Hazer.

Lv 1 ~ 0.05ml/min
SmokeNINJA & SmokeNINJA PRO
Liquid consumption:
Fog/ Haze ~ 0.5 ml/min
Dryice ~ 0.5 ml/min
Steam ~ 0.05 ml/min

Why is my chamber leaking?
SmokeGENIE
Leakage is mostly likely caused by the following:
- Silicone tap not being close tightly.
- Excessive Liquid accumulated inside the smoke output.Chamber is not stored inside the capsule/ installed on machine.
- Removing the excessive Liquid with the following steps should stops the leaking.
How to clean the chamber to prevent liquid leaking
Also make sure the Chamber is either stored inside the capsule or installed properly on the machine.

How to store leftover liquid? Is there an expiration date?
When store in the air-tight chamber, in room temperature and away from sunlight, the leftover liquid can have over 6 months of shelf life.
In Chamber
Long Term: The main reason for the smoke liquid to expire is due to its exposure to the oxygen in the surrounding air. For long term storage we suggest user to store the chamber in the Air-sealed capsule that comes with the Smoke Chamber. There is no need to remove the liquid before the storage. When store in the air-tight chamber, it can have over 6 months of shelf life.
Short Term (Less than 12 hours): The chamber can be store temperately (Less than 12 hours) without the air-sealed capsule if installed on a machine.
In Bottle
Simply store in the air-sealed bottle comes with the refill. Make sure the cap is screwed on tightly.
When stored in the bottle, in room temperature and away from sunlight, the leftover liquid can have over 18 months of shelf life.
